Lady Kennedy of Dunnottar - probably one of the last members of that particular famous Mearns branch of the Allardice family... How are the Allardice's related to Dunnottar? The statement above was found on the Stonehaven - Famous Ladies of the Mearns page. Answer from Bruce Allardice (our historian):
A daughter of Alexander Allardyce of Dunnottar, an Aberdeen merchant, married
the Marquis of Ailsa (a Kenedy) around 1800; and is the Lady Kennedy of
Dunnottar mentioned [above]. This is the Alexander Allardyce mentioned in
Appdx 3 of my monograph. Cokayne's "Peerage" and Burke's
"Peerage" are the sources for my monograph here. (Note:
Bruce's Monograph of the Allardice Family is now available at www.allardice.org)
